Homeschool Journal: Pace Yourself

Homeschool is a journey at This Functional Family

Week 1 Words of Wisdom

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Week 1 Focus

Pace yourself

At the start of the week, I had the kids transcribe these points (“The Journey…Pace yourself) onto their weekly agendas. Though we have faith, we are not necessarily practitioners of organized religion. I do, however, think it’s important to incorporate lessons on self-worth, motivation, kindness, and being a good human being into their curriculum. These quotes helped kick-start our week with a positive attitude and were emphasized throughout the week as we worked toward accomplishing our goals.

The Journey” was our first theme in beginning our long road into homeschooling. While the kids worked briskly and checked off their tasks, they were reminded each time they glanced at their agenda to pace themselves. They did great. And when we had our moments that frustration got the better of us, these words helped reel us back in.

Admittedly, the kids did this better than I did. When our off days hit, I was burnt & definitely could’ve used an extra day to recharge.

Lesson learned!
